Link Cloaking
Conclusion
Whatcha Gonna do
Part 1 Conclusion
So now you know link cloaking has a relatively narrow and
easy to understand use. It allows a friendly looking URL to
hide sensitive affiliate information and send the user to the
proper destination with all needed information in tact for you
to attain the commission you deserve.
You have 8 reasons you should be using link cloaking,
including privacy from affiliate spy software and, most
important, centralized link management that can save you hours
of work and valuable commission dollars.
You also know the paid and free options available to and why
or why not you should choose any of them.
Now it’s time to get to the nitty gritty part, building your
own link cloaking system. I will show you step by step how to
build a link cloaking system that allows you to direct a “made
up” URL to your desired destination with a single text file and
a single line of text for each destination you want to
cloak.
Believe me, it is an incredibly easy process and
takes very little time to build, even less to
maintain.

PART 2 – Build It Yourself
A Simple, Step by Step Magic Cloaking
Solution
What You Will Need For This Link
Cloaking Solution
In order to build this solution you will need a
Unix/Linux web hosting account that supports .htaccess
editing.
Side Note on Hosting
OK, here’s my one and only dogmatic diatribe
for this e-Book. If you don’t have your own web hosting you
should not be in Internet marketing.
I am sooooooo tired of seeing this method and
that saying you can succeed without a web site. They are wrong
and in my opinion flat out lying.
Any (non MLM) make money method I have seen
that claims no web site is needed contains, at the very least,
certain aspects of the method that are far more effective if
you have your own web hosting.
Even the grand daddy of all “almost free”
marketing methods, Bum Marketing, has techniques that require
web hosting to be most effective.
Besides that, if you can’t afford $4.95 per
month for an essential tool like web hosting you’re not
serious. You’re just playing around and shouldn’t bother
because you will end up spending far more than you will ever
make chasing each new “make big money fast for free”
opportunity that comes your way.
I have accounts with Ipowerweb, Netfirms,
GoDaddy, and Hostgator.
My favorite is Hostgator. It is very popular
among Internet marketers and I have had no problems that have
not been solved immediately, and those have been few and minor
(like another bozo using too many resources against TOS).
For $9.95/mo. you get more storage and
bandwidth than you’ll ever need, until you need a dedicated
server. It supports all the tech features you could ever want,
has cPanel for easy administration, and Fantasico to install a
ton of apps, like Wordpress or Agora Shopping, in minutes.
You are also allowed unlimited domains, MySQL
Databases, sub domains, email, URL forwarding FTP accounts and
more.
I would stay away from GoDaddy , hence no link.
They are great for domains I get them from my own reseller
account at http://esmarthost.com
